Thread veins lie superficially under the membrane layer of the skin, usually on the legs and face. Thread veins can be seen as red and blue blood vessels just below the skin’s surface. They may show as small blemishes cover larger areas. The cause of thread veins is unclear but can be an inherited. If left untreated the condition can become increasingly widespread and unsightly.
Non-surgical treatment for thread veins removal is carried out comfortably and consists of a series of small injections into and around the offending veins. This highly effective method of thread veins treatment is called Sclerotherapy and the sclerosant liquids used are sclerovein and scleremo.
These are both very gentle liquids and can be injected with little or no pain. Injecting the unwanted veins with these solutions causes the target vein to shrink and then dissolve over a period of weeks as the body naturally absorbs the treated vein.
As with many treatments a consultation is necessary to assess the number of thread vein treatments required, which is usually around two or three. These are usually performed monthly. An annual treatment is required to maintain the effect.
In most cases thread vein removal treatment takes around 30 minutes and should be hardly uncomfortable and produce a good cosmetic appearance afterwards. As recouperation time is not necessary, it is possible to carry on with normal activity immediately.
